Over the past year, as Covid-19 has severely limited our ability to interact with the world beyond our front door, livestreams have helped transport us to places we couldn’t visit, people we couldn’t see and events we couldn’t attend. Amazing architecture: China People's Daily headquarters resembles male genital
China has taken modern architecture to a whole new level. The newly erected headquarters of People's Daily newspaper in Beijing resembles a male body part which makes passersby blush.
As if the attention isn't enough, the building is also getting a shiny gold coat for more protection. Many think it makes a perfect match with China central television building, which resemble a female body part.

Streets of Wuhan China - Daily life before the coronavirus changed the city (and the world)
These are images of daily life in Wuhan before the coronavirus engulfed the city. The video includes shots of the Yangtze river waterfront, historic buildings, a ferry service, people living in traditional neighborhoods, modern shopping streets, construction sites, a temple complex, and a food market. They were filmed on my first visit to Wuhan in 2015.

In recent years it also grew into the main industrial and commercial powerhouse in central China. It is strategically located along the mighty Yangtze river.

Over the past year, as Covid-19 has severely limited our ability to interact with the world beyond our front door, livestreams have helped transport us to places we couldn’t visit, people we couldn’t see and events we couldn’t attend. In China, live streaming services command an audience of nearly 560 million, with streamers broadcasting to devoted followers who tune in every night. Successful live streamers can earn thousands of dollars each month in direct donations from fans, and those at the very top earn millions from brand sponsorships and major contracts.
In the short documentary above, we enter two agencies that scout promising newcomers and mold them into high-earning stars. But what’s it like working for a company that engineers every aspect of your life — and then requires you to livestream it all day?

These are images of daily life in Wuhan before the coronavirus engulfed the city. The video includes shots of the Yangtze river waterfront, historic buildings, a ferry service, people living in traditional neighborhoods, modern shopping streets, construction sites, a temple complex, and a food market. They were filmed on my first visit to Wuhan in 2015.
Wuhan in China has become the spotlight of the world this year, and not for good reasons. Before becoming (in)famous as the (most likely) source of the coronavirus, the city was fast becoming a crucial hub in China’s high-speed railway network. In recent years it also grew into the main industrial and commercial powerhouse in central China. It is strategically located along the mighty Yangtze river.
Wuhan is actually a conglomerate of three independent cities, Wuchang, Hangkou, and Hanyang. It was home to many historical events, and even briefly served as capital of China under the Kuomintang (in 1927). While it doesn’t boast any obvious tourist attractions, the city does have a unique character. Unfortunately, it gained international ‘fame’ as the start of the coronavirus Covid-19 outbreak.
